Hrithik's Leading Ladies

Kareena Kapoor

The link between Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan is like the link between rain and an umbrella, the moon and the stars, the ocean and the shores. This is not because they are soul mates, it's because of their pairing for the maximum number of 4 times consistently! Almost 5 times if it wasn't for Bebo's mother taking her out of Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

The Kareena-Hrithik pair began on Subhash Ghai's Yaadien. These were Kareena's not-so glamourous days. Her character Isha surely was a mismatch for our charming hottie, Ronit (Hrithik Roshan). There was a sense of awkwardness between the two that did not spark any flames. Nor did the film, it turned out to be Ghai's worst film ever made (maybe I'm exaggerating a bit). Kareena opposite Hrithik just didn't fit, made me wish that the snobby Moniskha would of ended up with our darling Ronit instead.

However, it wouldn't hurt to give it a second chance, right? At least Karan Johar thought so. Johar casted Kareena opposite Hrithik in his family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum and the pairing of these two never looked back since. Not only was Pooja (Kareena) as hot as any cover girl, but she was almost too good for Rohan (Hrithik). The pair ignited on screen and sizzled in their club hit song "You are my Soniya," that you'll be guaranteed to hear as a classic throughout the years. All of a sudden Duggu-Bebo pair was the hottest onscreen couple. The necessary sexy dialogues, glares, touches, and embrace had good chemistry written all over them.

Mujhse Dosti Karoge, their third venture together showed how high their comfort level was with each other. Even though Kareena played supporting role in the film, it confirmed that she was Hrithik's top leading lady.

Their latest onscreen affair was released in the Summer of 2003 with Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, an acclaim director, a winning pair, and good music, this film was meant to be a hit. However, ended up as the biggest disappointment of the year. Perhaps audiences were getting bored of the Duggu-Bebo pair, but then again it may not have been them because c'mon, how many times have we heard of the mistaken identity love story huh?!

This leading lady won't be seen with Hrithik for a while, but I'm sure that later in the future if these two were to reunite again onscreen, it may cause another hit. Kind of like Amitabh and Hema.
