Jodhaa Akbar centers around the romance between the 16th century Mughal Emperor, Akbar-the-Great, the founder of Din-i-Ilahi and famed for his Court of Navratnas, and his fiery Rajput princess wife, Jodhabai. Bringing us the story that precedes the legendary Mughal-E-Azam is acclaimed director Ashutosh Gowariker, the man behind Oscar-nominated Lagaan.
In the role of the revered Emperor is the unparalleled, immensely talented and reigning hearthrob, Hrithik Roshan. Over the years, Hrithik has proved his acting prowess by taking on a wide range of roles, from the mentally challenged to superhero and from terrorist to swashbuckling thief. Once again, he rises to the challenge of bringing to life a 'young' Akbar in all his regal splendour.
Re-uniting with him is his successful Dhoom 2 co-star, the beautiful and elegant former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai. In 2006, the pair set screens ablaze with their sizzling onscreen chemistry and now in 2008, they are here to create the magic all over again. They are totally mesmerizing. It is a breathtaking experience. Not a single detail is out of place.
Production house UTV has left no stone unturned to recreate the opulence of the Mughal Era, be it Nitin Desai's majestic palaces of the Rajputanas, Neeta Lulla's extravagant costumes or Tanishq's royal jewellery exclusive to the film. Kiron Deohans' camera promises to capture earth-shattering battle sequences with elephants, horses and swords!! Even the song sequences feature not 100 but 1000 dancers to add to the richness of the film.
The music for this epic tale is composed by world-renowned musical genius A R Rehman. His lingering, enveloping melodies combined with Javed Akhtar's soothing lyrics simply become a character of Jodha Akbar.
Movie lovers across the world await their story to unfold, a tale of romance, valor, politics in the court of Akbar...
